Great read. Just surviving isn't a desirable state of mind or life. And it keeps us in a horrible mindset. Real thrive comes with expanding your world and all the little tools and help you mentioned in the article. A great in-depth analysis and a pleasure to read. Thank you!
It's so funny that you wrote a post about thriving. My original post started as that, but when it took off into the political realm, I decided to write about my word for the year, "Thrive," next week. I'm thriving as a solopreneur. I'm done with being a leader, but it's fabulous advice.
Thanks for sharing your journey Patricia. As a fellow mother of young children, I know all about survival mode! Iβm also navigating my way slowly back to thriving. Thank you for the mention!
Thatβs a really hard question to answer actually.
I have to have the basics in place first - enough sleep, a big goal to work towards, morning daylight, grounding, meditation. I feel like I βneedβ all of these.
I can swear I'm in survival mode. LOL π
Let's change that in 30 days! :D

Yes, I think the advice for thriving as a leader in this post can be applied to anyone (solopreneurs, builders, creators, parents, etc).
You can lead your life, your time, your work. Independently on if you have a team of direct reports to lead.
I believe what we say at Amazon: Everyone is a leader.
Self-awareness is the foundational skill for any leadership position. You can't fix or improve if you can't see it. Great job with the Thrive course!
Thanks a lot Suresh. π I really like your newsletter. Iβm happy that I could give you some value back.
Iβm curious about your experience as a self-aware software manager. Do you see emotional intelligence in other managers and engineers?
I think there is still a lot to do to increase emotional intelligence at the workplace.
Your 30 Days WonderLead Thriving Challenge & Course-- will benefit sooo many people!
Thanks for the mention Patri!
The best way to help others is to help yourself first.
Thatβs so true π. Thank you for the advice!

All the best in your journey to thriving! π
Doing it slowly is what I was not allowed to do due the circumstances. Things would have been more easier otherwise.
How do you navigate survival to thriving?
Sorry to hear that Patricia.
Thatβs a really hard question to answer actually.
I have to have the basics in place first - enough sleep, a big goal to work towards, morning daylight, grounding, meditation. I feel like I βneedβ all of these.
How about you?
Very similar! Breathing, meditation and a bit of exercise or walking outside is the basics I need. Otherwise I don't do my best through the day.
